Mariama Turay

Mariama is one of the very few professional women drivers in the country and wears her profession with a badge of honour. In a country where women drivers are mostly viewed as ‘incompetent’ drivers, Mariama holds her own against any man, vehicle, or terrain. A mum, wife, and full-time employee, she sets out to be a role model to her children and young girls in her community. Operating in a male-oriented sector, Mariama understand why to be a feminist is critical for the development of a nation but also for changing the narrative of what it means to be a woman or girl in a male dominated society.
