Antonia Howard

Antonia is a media personality & communications professional with degree in BA (Hons.) Mass Communications, MA (Dist.) International Journalism.

She has almost a decade of experience in broadcast journalism having worked as a presenter and reporter for a local private media company – AYV, and internationally for the BBC on a freelance basis.

During her time at AYV, she headed the newsroom as Director of News and Current Affairs and also headed the journalism training programme. The peak of her career in journalism so far has been making it to the shortlist for the BBC Komla Dumor Award in 2022 – the first Sierra Leonean to make it to that stage.

As Media & Communications Manager, she delivers our communications planning and identifies ways to amplify and share Purposeful’s work. She co-produces our weekly Karo Kura radio drama and talkshow series, and hosts our debate show – Karo Kura Kapu Sens, which explores issues related to girls’ health and wellbeing.

As an MC/compère, a speaker and moderator she has presented on many events including national debates, TedX in Sierra Leone and the Annual Media Cocktail at State House.
