STRASS, Syndicat du Travail Sexuel

France

STRASS, Syndicat du Travail Sexuel is a sex worker-led organisation in France and serves as the sex workers’ trade union for the country. The organisation defends the interests of all people working in the sex industries and promotes a rights-based approach. During the pandemic, many sex workers have been infected and two trans women have died. All sex workers have been affected by loss of income due to lockdown, and with no support from the government, the group has relied on online fundraising to support the community. STRASS aims to provide a legal service to the community to allow them to maintain housing and report sexual violence, and when possible will offer direct support to new sex workers who are less informed about their rights and more vulnerable to violence.
