Rainbo Initiative (RI)

Established in 2003, Rainbo Initiative (RI) is a National Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Sierra provides free, quality and confidential health care services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) survivors across the country. Using a survivor centered approach, they provide care and support in a RI compassionate and caring manner that respects everyone’s specific needs and rights to make choices about how to address those needs. RI operates five Rainbo Centers (Freetown, Kenema, Bo, Makeni and Kono) where survivors access free medical, psychosocial counseling and follow up support services reaching over 40,000 women and children to date. REflective of the crisis of sexual assault on girls, most of the survivorw who access services at the Rainbo Centers are girls aged 17 and younger.
