Identity.Education was born in 2018 out of the need for formal representation for the LGBTQI+ community, the promotion of their human rights and to fight against discrimination and gender stereotypes. In Romania, Covid-19 has affected queer women in arts and culture – an already vulnerable group. Public and private funding has decreased and physical distancing has posed challenges for hosting events. Identity.Education aims to support queer women in art and culture by hosting a multidisciplinary documentary art expo and a digitalized theatre play, both of which will focus on the life of queer women in Romania. They also hope to analyse and survey the life of queer women in the city and create a digital map of the spaces that are considered safe.
