Grassroots Education and Development for Women (GEDW)

Grassroots Education and Development for Women (GEDW) was formed in 2008 as a result of the increase in drop out and illiteracy rate among women and girls as a result of the war. The organization started by providing basic literacy and numeracy training among women and girls to help strengthen and improve their literacy which had a ripple effect on their families and communities. Through the Karo Kura funds, GEDW provides life skills to girls through their safe space programme. They engage girls about their sexual and reproductive health rights so that girls can make choices about preventing pregnancy so they stay in school and pursue their life goals.
