Girl Child Network(GCN – SL) is working with adolescent’s girls who are at risk of dropping out of school, those who have dropped out, and those who have never been to school and are teenage mothers. GCN provides skills on entrepreneurship, mentorship and training for adolescent girls who have a vision to start up micro-enterprises in the production of menstrual hygiene management. This economic empowerment helps to reduce girls’ dependence on men. They administer an education support fund which supports girls in crisis situations by helping. Through their support girls receive mental health and psychosocial support, keeping them focused on working towards a bright future. During the life skills sessions, girls share personal stories about how they overcame challenges. They speak to how their journey led them to be more confident. Today, many of the girls are able to make more informed decisions on their sexual and reproductive health.
