The Generation Equality Adolescent Steering Committee is a group of adolescent girls across the globe working tirelessly to increase adolescent representation in Generation Equality processes. They have engaged over 1,000 adolescents across 123 countries to review, speak, scrutinize, and act on GEF processes and their Action Coalitions. They’ve also successfully proposed the idea of an official Adolescent Girl Advisory Body that is now being taken into consideration with UN Women. They have also pioneered UN Women’s YOUth newsletter where they highlighted the work of young activists, spoke on the importance of feminist self-care, and brought to light the issues that youth activists care about. They aim to engage the media even more and have more girls use the advocacy space to influence our shared beliefs. They are incredibly grateful to receive this grant and will ensure it will be allocated to engaging and expanding adolescent representation as much as possible.
