Coletivo TEIA is a black women-led grassroots group fighting for the human rights, integration and emancipation of black women, girls and the black community in general. Taking an intersectional feminist approach, the group fights racism, classism and gender-based violence, aiming to collaborate to end mass incarceration. The group runs a Socio Educational Project in a young women’s prison, but has been unable to carry out normal activities due to COVID-19. Despite this, they are in close contact with recently-released girls who need support with basic necessities, as well as support to restart their lives after incarceration. Coletivo TEIA aims to provide basic supplies to marginalized girls, as well as emotional support and accompaniment, building awareness of their rights and protecting them from gender- based violence and family conflict.
