Break the Silence is an anti-GBV movement that stands for the rights of women and children. Boitumelo Thage and Zaylia Vivienne founded the movement in December, 2020, during lockdown and the midst of the ongoing Femicide in South Africa with the idea of creating a safer South Africa for generations to come. The movement also works toward eradicating period poverty by hosting sanitary towel drives and educating communities on the importance of consent, signs of possible abuse or sexual assault and also do work within social justice activism.
