A Long Walk Home

USA

In 1997, Scheherazade Tillet learned that her older sister, Salamishah, was a rape survivor. Scheherazade used photography to document Salamishah’s recovery and in 2003, the Tillet sisters co-founded A Long Walk Home (ALWH). The organisation uses art therapy and the visual and performing arts to educate, empower and mobilise young people to end violence against women and girls.
